What should be maintained?

ALL electrical systems and equipment should be maintained if danger would otherwise arise.
All electrical equipment in an installation, whether permanently connected or connected by a plug and socket should be inspected and tested.

Since November 2020 It is the responsibility of the person in control of risk assessment (risk assessment comes under the the health and safety act) to have in place a PAT test certificate regardless of the size of business. It is important to check with your insurance provider the frequency of testing. If you have employees it is necessary to adhere to the electrical safety regulations as set out in current standards as governed by the Electricity at Work Regulations ACT (1989).

Is Pat Testing Law? Pat Testing is a term that is used to describe the process of electrical testing. Electrical testing of appliances and electrical infrastructure is a legal requirement. There are 4 different laws that include levels of electrical safety. the rule of thumb is that if you employ people, or work in anyway with the general public, that as duty holder for risk inspection and health and safety you must comply with electrical safety laws. This has been a subject that has been avoided for many years, however we now have further clarity from the IET and it reads. "It is the Duty holder for risk assessment to assess the risk of harm to the employee regardless of where they work from. They must take into consideration when assessing the frequency of use and the environment they are working in. This includes working on building sites or employees working out of their own home or office. It is up to the employer if they are providing equipment or are subcontracting to make sure their equipment is electrically compliant and safe to use. Dorset Pat testing offer a bespoke annual maintenance package for employers, that includes an annual inspection, documented report and working evaluation.

Yes, it is a legal requirement that all High Multiple Occupancy dwellings are Annually Pat Tested. At Dorset Pat Testing, we Test, Document and annualise our testing so you do not have to remember each year. Our system will contact you 11 months after your inspection to remind you to book your next test.

It is the responsibility of the contractor to ensure that the appliances on site are Pat Tested. This includes the Comfort hut or Cabin. HSE recomend that power tools are PAT tested every 3 months and cabin appliances every 12 months. Dorset Pat Testing, is yours due?
